Series of Jabez

A 4-series of pastor Kong Hee service in CHC KL was a blast. From one chapter of 1 Chronicles 4, Ps. Kong tell us the story of Jabez and the moral of the story. It was excellence and fantastic!

On the first night, Ps. Kong was sharing about the shame in our life. One of the story that really touched my heart was when Ps. Kong shared about his brothers. Both of them were deaf and mute since they were born. Without fail every week, his brother will bring Ps. Kong  to watch movie by taking bus to the cinema. People are laughing in the bus and scolding and people were shaming his brother and yet Ps. Kong were there sitting at the right hand of his brother. The shame that pastor carried are tremendous big.

There are 3 shames in our life :

1. Inherited Shame

2. Impulse Shame (Shame because of abuses, background, etc).

3. Actual Shame (shame when we actually did something wrong).

When talking about shame, we need to consider about Jesus who bore the shame for us. In the bible it’s written before He was crucified, he was torn apart and naked. He has even experienced the shame and he is taking the shame for us!

From 1 Chronicles 4:9-10, Jabez has 4 prayers :

1. Blessing

2. Influence

3. Anoiting

4. Power

Jabez name has the meaning of painfuls (1 Chro 4:19) but it doesn’t stop him to cry out to God an receive favour from Him.

Last but not least, Ps. Kong shared with us the 5 purpose of praying in tongues :

1. Tongue for charging/edification (1 Cor 14)

2. Tongue for praise

3. Tongue for intercession (Rom 8:27-28)

4. Tongue for spiritual warfare (Eph 6:18)

5. Tongue for revelation (1 Cor 14:16)
